The newest implant around is on the eyelids. Originally developed to help restore lashes to patients with burns and congenital defects, the same techniques used for scalp hair transplants are being applied to eyelashes.
The procedure takes hair follicles from the back of the scalp and implants them along the eyelid margin. It can cost $3,000 per eye.
Here's the catch: the hairs grow just like they did on the back of the scalp- so they need to be trimmed regularly, and if one has curly hair, then one will have curly lashes.

Hello, I was wondering about eyelash implant, and what I wanted to know is if fake eyelashes that can be brought from any beauty supply store, which says human hair on the pack...can be used for implantation?

interesting thought, but no, you must use your own hair.

In case the person is suffering of alopecia, the hair can be provided by someone else (i.e. a parent)? What would be the possibilities for getting an eyelashe implant for such person?
Many thanks

What are the risks of this procedure????????? There must be some risks other than your implanted hair growing and needing to be trimmed. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I have a nervous disorder and I pull out my eyelashes. I don't think I would pull out the implants. Would I be a good candidate for this surgery?

I have researched this since it first hit the news a few years ago. I live in Dayton, Ohio and can not seem to locate a surgeon who performs this around here. Can someone point me in the right direction?
