A company called Novalert is working on a new 'microchip' device to monitor for leakage or rupture of silicone breast implants. It is called the Breast Implant Monitoring System (BIM) and uses RFID technology.
From a recent New York Times article, "Dr. Gryskiewicz said that he nevertheless advises his patients that
they will need the tests. But he is also developing an alternative
diagnostic tool, called Novalert, a dime-size radio-frequency
identification tag that fits on the back of an implant and emits a
signal if it senses leaking silicone. “The M.R.I. is the best test we
have at the moment, but we need a better system,” he said."
Where will the signal be sent? This is not clear to us. Maybe it will cause your cell phone to ring.
"Wazuuup, this is your breast implant. I'm leaking."

Is this Microchip Safe to use ?

This would be great. Maybe with the help of these inventions, breast implants would become safer and I would actually make one.
