Several months back, a team of French doctors performed a zero-gravity operation on a plane that simulates the weightlessness of space in a parabolic flight path. A lipoma (fatty tumor) was removed from a volunteer's arm during the procedure which required a special setup with instruments strapped-down and magnetized.
According to an article in New Scientist Space, "Anaesthetist Laurent de Coninck believes that zero-gravity surgery
offers huge promise for space exploration, though it would at first be
limited to treating simple, accidental injuries."
Could space plastic surgery be the next boutique offering to the Beverly Hills clientèle?
