Subway smells

This is an aside from the general topic of this blog, but what is the deal with Subway sandwich stores? There is a strange smell in there, and when you leave, your clothes carry that stench with you for the rest of the day- like an olfactory memento of your visit.  There are many others who feel the same way: click here.  Is it some sort of plastic in the bread ovens or the vinegar in the dressing? Whatever it is, something is wrong.
